We’re in, me hearties! Yes, most of our staff here at Pure Telecom might have trouble sorting out port from starboard but we were happy to get our feet wet, and probably a whole lot more, as we took part in our first Macmillan Coracle World Championships.
The event took place on the River Severn in Shrewsbury on Friday, September 14 and is a massive fundraiser each year for Shropshire’s Macmillan Cancer Support. Our team splashed along with 47 other teams of four on the day at the Pengwern Boat Club in The Quarry.
Why don’t you come along and give us a cheer next year?
It is always a great day out and the amount of money raised each year for such a worthy cause never fails to take the breath away. £33,700 was raised last year alone through entrance fees, team fundraising and other donations. A magnificent effort in the name of a charity that does so much to help cancer patients and their families at the most difficult times in their lives. This particular fundraiser has been running since 1997 and has raised a staggering total in excess of £230,000.
It’s incomprehensible to think that by 2020, one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes. This makes it all the more important that we do what we can to help charities like Macmillan Cancer Support through funding to enable them to be able to continue their wonderful work.
Here at Pure we actively support a number of charity events during the course of the year and we are hoping our intrepid team of four will make a real splash at the event and help to beat the figure raised last year.
We would love to hear from anyone who would like to support our team.
