Ark Christmas collection at Shrewsbury Business Park a great success

Shrewsbury companies have rallied round to donate hundreds of items to homeless people in the town. Pure Telecom, based on Shrewsbury Business Park, made an appeal for items for the Shrewsbury Ark at the beginning of the month. “We asked neighbouring firms on the park to contribute to a charity Christmas collection for the Shrewsbury Ark, which provides a drop-in centre for homeless and vulnerable people,” said Sharon Hutchinson, marketing manager of Pure Telecom. The firm appealed to employees at the 66 firms on the park to donate essential items such as tinned food, sleeping bags, warm clothes and toiletries over the next few weeks. “We have been delighted with the response, with more than 200 really useful items being collected by Shrewsbury Business Park manager, Anthony Scanlan or dropped off for us to deliver to The Ark. “I am really pleased that as a business community in our own right we have made a difference and taken some of the pressure off The Ark who have such an increase in demand this time of year,” Sharon added. Camilla Bruce from Shrewsbury Ark said "A very big thank you to Pure Telecom and the businesses on Shrewsbury Business Park for your overwhelming generosity of donations.  The Shrewsbury Ark supports people from all walks of life to build their confidence and resilience to realise their self-worth in order to move on from their current circumstances.  We would not be able to offer our services without the support from our community - thank you!" Located opposite Shrewsbury Railway Station, The Shrewsbury Ark provides a range of services to help people in need, including advice, warm drinks, affordable snacks, clothing, a shower and laundry facilities.
